Not long after, the expert waltzed into the shop. “I rushed over as soon as I could,” She said, her eyes eagerly zeroing in on the book. Toby, trying his best to suppress the jittery nerves dancing in his stomach, gave her the go-ahead to examine the heirloom.
Toby and Rick watched her every move, their breaths held in nervous anticipation. Her expression remained a hard unreadable mask, the silence only adding to their anxious waiting. Doubt began to creep back into Toby’s mind, threatening to drown his earlier excitement. Finally, she closed the book and turned to face him.
