Rick returned to the counter, gesturing for Toby to hang on just a bit longer. “I’ve got an expert on the way. She should be here any minute now,” he said, his voice reflecting his growing intrigue. Toby had no urgent plans and was, in fact, loving every moment of this mystery adventure.
Rick’s gaze ping-ponged between the boy and the enigmatic book, a flicker of bewilderment crossing his face. “Are you sure this book was your grandma’s?” He asked, the gears in his mind turning. “How did she come by it?” Toby went on to explain how the book had found its way into his hands.
