Jake Wood – Geico Gecko
This reptile seems to make a living out of commercials, but kidding aside, the creature is one of the most recognizable mascots in the world of advertising. However, it wouldn’t be as entertaining if it doesn’t talk. Luckily, actor Jake Wood lends his voice to the character after “Frasier” star Kelsey Grammer and Dave Kelly vacated the post.
Insurance company Geico tried to work around the Screen Actors Guild strike that prohibited the use of live actors. Wood, who starred in the BBC soap opera “EastEnders” from the ’90s until 2021, provided Gecko’s famous Cockney accent that he used when delivering sarcastic lines.
