Nehemiah Persoff – Age 101, Born In 1919 – Yentl
In 1983, the outstanding retired American actor/painter Nehemiah Persoff appeared in the movie Yentl. He portrayed the father of Barbra Streisand’s character, one of the over 200 roles of his long career in show business. Active between 1947 and 1999, Persoff made it to productions such as The Legend of Jesse James, Gilligan’s Island, Hawaii Five-O, and Mission: Impossible.
After deciding to retire in 1999, Persoff became more active as a painter and specialized in watercolors. He took the time to relax and spend time with family, and Persoff’s own recipe of happiness seems to be working: in the Summer of 2021, he’ll be celebrating his 102nd birthday!
