Johnny Mathis, 85, Born In 1935 – Grammy Hall of Fame
The American singer-songwriter Johnny Mathis has been a show business pro since the mid-’50s, and he’s not been showing any signs of wanting to stop. In 2021, he made it as a feature guest artist to the new album of singer Freda Payne, titled Let There Be Love. A reference in genres as disparate as pop, Spanish music, soul, and country, Mathis was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame thrice.
Mathis is also a big fan of the holidays, and he’s released six classic Christmas albums over the years. Now 85, Mathis has been keeping his fans waiting: his latest record was released in 2018, during Record Store Day.
