A renowned politician, Jimmy Carter caught worldwide attention in 1977 when he became the 39th President of the United States. He occupied the Oval Office for one whole term before Ronald Reagan took over. Before the presidency, Carter was a member of the Georgia State Senate and also served as the 76th Governor of Georgia.
The 96-year-old has been married to Rosalynn Smith since 1946 and raised four children together. They not only have seen grandchildren but also great-grandchildren. The couple has been involved in philanthropic work, most popularly volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. Carter is the earliest president alive as of this day.
