With over 20 seasons, the legal show Judge Mathis is the second longest-running TV arbitration show. Its star, Judge Greg Mathis, is also the longest-standing African American court show judge in TV history. This is a far cry from the story of his youth.
Mathis spent some time in Jail, but after his mother was diagnosed with cancer, he was allowed to leave prison earlier. He managed to get into the University of Michigan, where he graduated with a BS in Public Administration. His life story was even turned into a stage production that toured 22 cities in America.
