Toby brainstormed a quick game plan. He’d bide his time until the man left the lab, then slide into the lab before the door closed. It was a risky scheme that depended heavily on luck, but Toby was out of options. He didn’t know the secret code and needed to get into the lab without catching the scientist’s eye.
Soon enough, the scientist began taking off his goggles and gloves. Figuring that the exit was the guy’s next move, Toby hustled to return the stool and ducked near the door. He felt like his heart was going to pop out of his ribcage.
