Elvis’ for March of Dimes During the ’50s
Elvis Presley’s legacy lives on. Rightfully acclaimed as the King of Rock n’ Roll, he left us thousands of reasons to remember him, but few today know that he also worked with March of Dimes, a charity organization that researches and focuses on improved child health. In this photo from 1956, he is posing with a young patient.
The organization launched this campaign back in 1954 to spread awareness. Presley volunteered to help and pose for a few photographs and visit hospitals for the cause. In this picture, he is with a girl named Joanne Wilson before making what would be his very last appearance on “The Ed Sullivan Show.”
