The proud owner of the business Mrs. Fields Cookies, which operates in over 250 locations, is Debbi Fields. However, the story of how she started up is really interesting. In 1968 she was hired by Oakland Athletics as their first ball girl. She used her $5 an hour wage to buy ingredients for what would become this cookies empire.
The cookies business had over 600 franchises at its height of success and she was the first to have introduced the milk-and-cookies break for umpires on the baseball fields. While she sold her business to an investment group in 1990s, she is still a spokesperson for the brand.
