Claude Francois – a Mercedes Benz 450 SEL

It was in the mid-60s that the singer had the most success. He recorded prolifically, single after single adaptation after adaptation. Claude François added the first version of Les Clodettes to his show in 1966, which gave him a new attraction in concert, and set up a new tour which was a huge success. Separated for a long time from his first wife, he had a brief and highly publicized love affair with the singer France Gall in 1967. In the wake of this breakup, he co-wrote and recorded a song entitled “Comme d’Habitue”, which will be later adapted by Paul Anka to become the English-language pop standard “My Way”. The car that belonged to the singer, a Mercedes Benz 450 SEL, was auctioned off and sold to one of his biggest fans.
