Remember Those Live Mermaids?
These mesmerizing “live mermaids” used to flip their fins and bask under the sun near the blue lagoon. However, according to the former mermaid, Suzanne Brewster, the water in the lagoon was too cold! So, the mermaids had to ditch their aquatic lifestyle and chill on the rocks like a bunch of sunbathing lizards.
The mermaids were a hit with visitors, especially in the Tomorrowland area during the summer of ’59. And they made a comeback in ’65 to ’67 before the closure of the Submarine Voyage. In 2007, they opened the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, featuring some of our favorite fishy friends from the Disneyland venture.
